Crystal by Baccarat, designed by Thomas Bastide
Baccarat makes the Louxor Votives from crystal in France. Thomas Bastide presented the design in 2024. Baccarat describes the collection as a contemporary reinterpretation of an aesthetic turning point of the 1930s: at that time, pyramids, obelisks and Egyptian bas-reliefs shaped the pared-back formal vocabulary of Art Deco. Bastide translates this austerity into clean edges and geometric surfaces.
The Midnight colour tints the crystal a dark blue all the way through. This keeps the form of the glass visible even in daylight and without a candle.
The Baccarat Louxor Votive in your home
At a height of 5.97 cm, the two tealight holders stay low. On the dining table, they sit low enough for your guests to talk to one another over them. As soon as a candle is lit, its light picks up the blue tone of the crystal and falls softly on the tablecloth and porcelain.
As a pair, the votives can be arranged symmetrically: on either side of a vase on the sideboard, at both ends of a console table or on the mantelpiece. In the living room, the dark blue sets a calm accent of colour alongside pale woods and linen.
