Bocci is a design and production company based in Vancouver, Milan and Berlin. It was founded in 2005 under the creative direction of Omer Arbel. Since then, Bocci Lighting has been committed to an open relationship between creative direction and craftsmanship, starting with its lighting design '14', which became an instant classic and continues to be a classic and bestseller. Bocci's growing portfolio of sculptural lighting is designed, engineered and manufactured in-house through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality and scale. Das Herzstück von Bocci ist die Liebe zum Material Glas. Durch innovative Blas- und Gusstechniken entstehen Formen, die nie absolut identisch sind – jede Kugel, jeder Körper ist ein Unikat. Die berühmte Serie 28 beispielsweise fasziniert durch ihre komplexen Lufteinschlüsse und Farbverläufe, die das Licht auf magische Weise brechen. In 2015, Bocci transformed a historic Berlin building into a showroom and archive. “BOCCI 79” occupies a 2,200 m² former courthouse built in 1896. The BOCCI showroom displays over a decade of Omer Arbel's work, pieces currently in progress, prototypes and collections of ideas, through to the full range of catalog pieces developed for Bocci. Between Vancouver and Berlin, Omer Arbel cultivates a fluid position between the fields of architecture, sculpture, invention and design. His work focuses on the mechanical, physical and chemical qualities of materials and the exploration of light as a medium.
Since the beginning of September 2020, we have started with a small selection of luminaires from the collection. We will continue to expand this step by step. The ceiling lights, chandeliers and other lighting concepts from BOCCI are currently on display in our luxurious showroom and in our store in Leipzig city center.
