Contact NowA heritage steeped in history
For almost two centuries, the Braquenié brand has embodied the very best in French textiles and interior design. Founded in the 1820s as a carpet and upholstery fabric retailer in Paris, Braquenié quickly became a destination for haute couture interiors, offering fabrics, carpets and wall coverings that evoke both the opulence of the Second Empire and the subtlety of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
From Parisian trading house to royal manufacturer
It all began in 1934/1824 with the trade in carpets and floor coverings — but soon the Braquenié brothers joined the business, and it became a workshop for the highest quality textiles. In 1875, King Leopold II awarded the Maison the title of ‘Manufacture Royale’ — a knighthood that would elevate Braquenié for its preciousness, craftsmanship and style. Even back then, its customers included aristocrats, artists, intellectuals and even rulers such as Napoleon III — so it's no wonder that Braquenié fabrics could be found in palaces, elegant villas and later also in world-famous houses.
An incomparable aesthetic — between pomp and poetry
Braquenié stands for a style that blends the cultural influences of France: the lavish opulence and exotic charm of the Second Empire combine with the flowing, organic design language of Art Nouveau and the clear, harmonious geometry of decorative art. Pierre Frey Printed cottons, silky damasks, carefully woven carpets — every material tells a story of craftsmanship and taste. Whether ornamental, floral motifs, Toiles de Jouy scenes or geometric structures: Braquenié fabrics are more than just decoration — they are an expression of the art of living and interior design.
Braquenié today — tradition reinterpreted
Since its acquisition by Pierre Frey in 1991, Braquenié has remained true to its roots while continuing to develop its heritage for modern living environments. The historic fabric library, with thousands of documents, designs and weaving patterns, serves as a source of inspiration for new editions, contemporary collections and specially manufactured carpets, wall coverings and upholstery fabrics. The result: interiors with character — for all those who are not just looking for a home, but an atmosphere in which history, elegance and interior design can be felt.
