The Verdure Tapestry, which derives from the Flemish tradition of large-scale tapestry weaving, is inspired by a 17th century work currently on display in the King's Presence Chamber at Kensington Palace. Its green, picturesque scene pays homage to the richly woven, intricate tapestries that were known as 'the mobile frescoes of the North'. These stunning woven works of art were a canvas for the imagination of the master weavers who adorned each landscape with fanciful trees and foliage without the traditional perspective limitations of figurative or narrative tapestries.
Converted into a magnificent panoramic tapestry (mural) by Cole & Son, the Verdure Tapestry is full of life with its rich flora and fauna. Each roll of the Verdure Tapestry contains four drops, which result in the panoramic of 210 cm width and 350 cm height.
Scope of delivery
The price shown is for a 210x350cm panel (mural). It is supplied in a roll with a width of 52.5 cm and a length of 14.00 m. There is a cut line on each panel. The mural consists of 4 drops and can of course be extended.
