Kurland: a service with a history
KPM originally designed the service for the Duke of Courland. Its first name was "Service mit antiquer Kanthe", and it still describes the defining detail today: a sculpted relief edge that frames the rim and gives the simple form its neoclassical character. For more than 225 years, Kurland has been one of the most successful porcelain designs of the Berlin manufactory.
The Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin was founded in 1751. Its trademark is the cobalt-blue sceptre. Choosing Kurland means choosing a form that has remained in use for generations because it has proved its worth.
The KPM Kurland Espresso Set in everyday life
At 80 ml, the Kurland espresso cup has a size that suits several preparations: a short espresso, an espresso macchiato with a cap of milk foam, or a classically brewed mocha. The set is put together for two people, and each cup sits on its own saucer.
At the breakfast table, after dinner or with afternoon coffee, this porcelain shows what good design is all about: it stands out without pushing itself into the foreground. The espresso set can be combined with other pieces from the Kurland collection by KPM.
