A tea caddy that became a vase
The Cadre form has an unusual origin. It was created after 1945 as a tea caddy for the Urbino service, KPM introduced it in 1967 as the "Vase Tee", and it has been offered as a vase since 1984. The design is by Trude Petri. With a length of 13 cm and a width of 7 cm, the base is narrow and elongated, and the height is 14.5 cm. The KPM Vase Cadre 2 therefore also fits on a laid table or a slim console table.
Hand-painted with amaryllis and 24-carat gold
KPM makes the vase by hand at the manufactory in Berlin-Tiergarten. The amaryllis decoration is hand-painted, and the brushstrokes and gold rim are made of 24-carat burnished gold. The white porcelain remains visible as a calm background, allowing the blooms and gold to show to their best effect. The vase weighs 700 g.
On the table and in the collection
KPM classes the Cadre 2 as a table vase, and the decoration has a Christmassy character. The Amaryllis edition comprises four pieces: the Vide Poche and the Cadre 0, Cadre 1 and Cadre 2 vases. If you combine several sizes, you create a group that shows the form and decoration in different proportions.
