Kvadrat Mono Mix is a semi-transparent curtain fabric made from recycled Trevira CS yarn, spun from production offcuts. Fibres dyed in different shades combine to create a calm melange with a wool-like look. Kvadrat lists the fabric under article number 5548 in its Residential collection.

Material and manufacture of Kvadrat Mono Mix
Mono Mix is made entirely of Trevira CS, 90% of it recycled yarn recovered from production waste. Kvadrat therefore describes the fabric as a mono-material. The yarn is processed as spun yarn, woven in plain weave and manufactured in Germany.
The colour is created within the material itself: anionic and cationic fibres absorb the dye to different degrees. As a result, every surface shows a fine blend of several shades, even though the fabric counts as a plain colour.
The effect at the window
As a semi-transparent curtain, Mono Mix lets daylight into the room in a softened form and takes the harshness out of the window area. The melange looks lively up close and calm from a distance. The colour range extends from light shades such as White Shine, Cool Neutral and Blue Sky to botanical shades such as Wild Olive and Hickory. At Villa Kontor, eight colours are available.
Fire protection in everyday use
Trevira CS is flame retardant. Kvadrat Mono Mix has passed tests including EN 13501-1 (B-s1,d0), DIN 4102 B1, NFPA 701 and BS 5867-2 Type B. Dust and dirt reduce this effect, so Kvadrat recommends washing the curtain once a year if possible, and more often with heavy use.
Care instructions for Kvadrat Mono Mix
- Machine wash up to 60 °C
- Do not bleach
- Do not tumble dry
- Iron at medium temperature (max. 150 °C)
- Professional dry cleaning
Tip
Wash Mono Mix with a half load and a detergent without optical brighteners. Kvadrat advises allowing for 1 to 4% shrinkage when washing. When making up the curtains, allow some extra length.
