Kvadrat Woodtrace is a dense, soft curtain fabric designed by Patricia Urquiola for Kvadrat. The jacquard weave translates the grain of wood into a rhythmic, geometric composition. A subtle satin sheen makes it visible in changing light.

Kvadrat Woodtrace: Material and Construction
Kvadrat makes Woodtrace exclusively from recycled polyester, which is obtained from post-consumer PET bottles. The manufacturer describes the fabric as a mono-material. The yarn combines filament and staple fibres, and the fabric is woven in Turkey. The jacquard weave mirrors the pattern of the front on the reverse, so the curtain looks good from both sides. Kvadrat certifies Woodtrace with Greenguard Gold and a Health Product Declaration (HPD) and provides a 10-year guarantee.
The Effect in the Room
Urquiola has refined the wood pattern, rescaled it and made it omnidirectional. Up close, you see a layered geometry; from a distance, a calm surface across which the light travels. Because the fabric is densely woven, it provides privacy. It also dampens sound: Kvadrat states a sound absorption coefficient of 0.45 (class D) for the fabric hanging flat and 0.65 (class C) for the fabric gathered in folds, measured in accordance with EN ISO 354.
Use in Homes and Contract Spaces
Kvadrat recommends Woodtrace for living spaces as well as for hotels, offices and other contract projects. Among other standards, the fabric is tested to EN 13501-1 (B-s1,d0), DIN 4102 B1 and NFPA 701. With high lightfastness, it is suitable for windows that receive plenty of daylight. Please plan the drops with the width of 300 cm and the vertical pattern repeat of 77 cm in mind.

- Machine wash up to 60 °C

Tip
When cutting, allow for shrinkage of approximately 2% in the warp and 1% in the weft. Kvadrat recommends washing the fabric with the machine half loaded.
