Tassinari & Chatel is the jewel in the crown of the Lelièvre house and one of the jewels of France’s cultural heritage. It is one of the oldest weaving mills in Lyon, with origins dating back to 1680, when the Pernon workshop served as an official supplier to the greatest courts of Europe, and in particular to the court of King Louis XV.

Tassinari & Chatel owes its reputation to its exceptional, centuries-old expertise in the production of exquisite silk fabrics, combining traditional craftsmanship with technological innovation. Lelièvre, which has admired this exceptional heritage for more than three centuries, took a significant step in 1998 by acquiring this renowned manufacturer.
Bold, elegant and timeless: Tassinari & Chatel continues to weave its traditional textiles in France on mechanical looms or on manual looms, also known as ‘hand looms’. As early as 2006, the company was among the first to receive the coveted ‘EPV’ label – ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’.

Tassinari & Chatel embodies the great tradition of Lyon silk weaving like no other brand. Since its foundation in 1680, the manufactory has combined centuries-old craftsmanship with exceptional creative continuity, making it one of the oldest and most renowned textile houses in France.
The house looks back on an impressive history: European royal houses, including Versailles, Napoleon I and numerous noble families, placed their trust in the precious fabrics from Lyon. To this day, the fabrics can be found in historic palaces, museums and exclusive interiors worldwide.
At the heart of the brand lies a unique archive of over 100,000 historical designs, which serves as a creative source for today’s collections. Classic motifs from the 17th to the 19th century are reinterpreted with the utmost precision and realised using intricate techniques such as damask, lampas or brocade.
